40 Days for Life national director
brings pro-life message to Mobile
Mobile, AL – David Bereit, the national campaign director of 40 Days for Life, will bring the message of this groundbreaking pro-life effort to Mobile on April 5th. Bereit will be speaking at 40 Days for Life Prayer Vigil, which is set for Noon at Planned Parenthood Abortion Site, 717 Downtowner Loop W. “We are tremendously pleased that David will have the opportunity to meet with the leaders of our pro-life community,” said Fred Tiemann, spokesperson for the local 40 Days for Life campaign in Mobile. “He’s an energetic, enthusiastic speaker and we know he will be an inspiration to the people involved in our event.”

Mobile is one of the many communities across the nation conducting simultaneous 40 Days for Life campaigns from March 9 through April 17. This is Mobile’s 5th time to participate in the campaign.

40 Days for Life is an intensive pro-life campaign that focuses on 40 days of prayer and fasting, 40 days of peaceful vigil at abortion facilities, and 40 days of grassroots educational outreach. The 40-day time frame is drawn from examples throughout Biblical history where God brought about world-changing transformation in 40-day periods.

David Bereit became an outspoken pro-life advocate after Planned Parenthood announced plans to build an abortion clinic in his Texas town in 1998. He helped to start and build a local grassroots coalition that rallied 60 churches and thousands of people together and dramatically reduced abortions in the region. Planned Parenthood recognized the effectiveness of David's efforts when it labeled his town "the most anti-choice place in the nation." David led the first-ever 40 Days for Life campaign in College Station, Texas, and helped coordinate seven national 40 Days for Life campaigns that engaged communities coast to coast – and internationally.

UPCOMING PRO LIFE LEGISLATION  (4-4-2011)
Thank you to so many attending Pro-Life Legislative Day, it was a great turn out and we were blessed to hear from our elected Leaders as they spoke as true Statesmen about their desire to protect life in AL!

Even as we are half way through the season of prayer and sacrifice, please continue to keep Passage of Life Saving Legislation in your prayers .   If you have not yet participated in the 40 days for life, Prayer,  Fasting and Community Outreach there is still time to join your local effort.

We are one third through the legislative session and several bills continue to advance toward passage.  Here is a summary of the bills so far to keep in prayer.

HB 18 Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act of Alabama – Sponsored in the House by Rep. Kerry Rich, passed out of the health committee and had it’s “second reading”, recorded into the House Chamber and now is in the House Rules Committee.  The Chairman Blaine Galliher has assured me his support.  Calls Monday and Tuesday need to go to members of that committee letting them each know you support banning all abortions after 20 weeks, particularly in light of medical proof unborn babies feel pain.  Ask them to make this a priority to get on the “special order calendar” as soon as possible.
